
Carl Ledbetter
Dr. Ledbetter joined UV Partners as an Information Technology partner. Prior to joining UV Partners, Dr. Ledbetter was Senior Vice President, Engineering/Research and Development at Novell, Inc. and was responsible for Novell's Venture Fund. Earlier in his career Dr. Ledbetter was President of AT&T's Consumer Products Division, CEO of ETA Systems, CDC's supercomputer subsidiary, corporate vice president and General Manager of Sun Microsystems' PC Networking division, Director of IBM's Kingston Laboratory, and a dean and professor of mathematics at Sonoma State University and Wellesley College. Carl earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from Clark University, his master's degree in mathematics from Brandeis University and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Redlands.
Tom Scholl
Tom Scholl is a partner at Novak Biddle Venture Partners. He is a successful entrepreneur and investor with experience sitting on both sides of the boardroom table. He has twenty-five years experience in communications systems, equipment, chipsets and software. In 1990, he founded Telogy Networks, (now owned by Texas Instruments) the leader in embedded communications VOIP software products.
Mr. Scholl also sits on the boards of Paratek, Princeton Optronics and Centice. In 2001, he co-founded and became chairman of Cognio, a developer of technology for new and existing short-range wireless applications. In 1995, he was recognized as the Joseph A. Sciulli "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Maryland High Technology Council.
Mr. Scholl is on the Board of Visitors at the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland and he is the Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee. He's a member of IEEE and ACM, and he is an alumnus of Purdue University and the Executive Management program at MIT Sloan School.
Janice Roberts
Janice Roberts is a managing director at Mayfield Fund. She taps her vast
experience as a global communications executive and a veteran early-stage
entrepreneur to focus on Mayfield's investments in networking components
and systems, mobile communications and consumer-oriented companies.
Janice also serves on the boards of companies including Quickoffice,
Phonebites, SunRocket and Ubicom. Janice's notable investments include
Peribit Networks, which was sold to Juniper Networks.
Prior to joining Mayfield, Janice built a successful early-stage investment
portfolio as president of 3Com Ventures. She also led 3Com's global
marketing and business development operation and ran a number of the
company's new business initiatives, including the highly successful Palm
Computing subsidiary. Previously, Janice was managing director and president
of BICC Data Networks LTD., which was acquired by 3Com in 1992.
Janice holds an honors degree in commerce (economics and finance) from the
University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
She serves on the advisory boards of the Entrepreneurs Foundation (EF), the
Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE) and the INSEAD Business School U.S.
Council.
