Sennari, a provider of CRM-based applications for mobile phones, has launched MobileTunes, a free promotional mobile music channel that it says provides consumers with information about music trends and artists and enables the sharing of content and purchasing of music-related items.
Sennari said that artists, labels and promoters use the web site mobiletunes.fm to set-up blogs, on-line/mobile promotions, free song previews and concert calendars. Content is auto-formatted for the MobileTunes application on the phone.
MobileTunes, the company added, provides a vehicle for record labels and bands to include SMS short codes, artist fan sites, postcards and CD jewel cases that tie into promotional giveaways and are accessible to web and mobile users. Music promoters can also send information and news about artists via MobileTunes using in-application message alerts, short codes promoted via the web, radio advertising with short codes and email marketing.
"Mobile music and entertainment has been extremely popular worldwide, as seen with the growth of ringtones and digital music, so there is a huge potential for an application like MobileTunes,"said Bill Barhydt, CEO of Sennari."Mobile users are gravitating to entertainment services that are appealing both online and off-line. We recognize the inherent draw to these applications and, as such, deliver a solution that is useful for the music industry to promote their wares using both the web and new mobile phone technology and fun for the music aficionados."
